NTC Day 1

Today I left for the National Training Center in the Mojave Desert. I'll be there for a month honing my skills as a convoy commander.

I got up at 0230 to be there by 0330. After dropping our check-in bags with the baggage crew, the company got on our chartered flight at about 0900.

It was a very pleasant flight, all things considered. We got in to the Victorville Airport at about 1100, got our tent assignment, and settled in.

And that was about it for the day.

One thing I wish I would have brought is a bigger can of shaving cream. Unlike civilian flights, they didn't screen our baggage. Oh well -- there's a shoppette where I can buy some more tomorrow.
