Pre-departure

In getting ready for the move, we've had to (scratch that -- I've had to) get rid of a bunch of stuff -- either by dumping or shipping to my family on the Mainland.

Among the things to throw away are my beloved boots. *sniff*

So now, our apartment looks like this:

We had a lot of errands to errands to do today, so we rented a car. We had to pick up a report from the doctor’s office, find and exchange renminbi, go to the bank, pick up my moped and try to sell it, get a haircut, use up a Coldstone Creamery gift certificate, and check email one more time before we leave. We got all of them done nicely, with the exception of the moped thing. That’s a bit frustrating, because now I have to rely on the next tenant (a friend of ours) to sell it, but overall we’re pretty happy with how things worked out.

Not counting the few things left for the next guy, we're done. Tomorrow, we leave for China. Goodbye, first apartment.
