From 0300 to 0400 I was fireguard, so I wrote Dad. Woke at 0430 for inspection at 0600 by the battalion commander and CSM. We answered questions about weapon stats, weapon safety, general orders, night vision goggles. He looked at out I-packs and ruck sack contents, and did an inspection arms.
We lost a lot of points because of missing Camelbak covers, med tags, or faulty dust covers, which weren't things we could fix. DS A was still proud of us. I answered a question about variable gain on night vision goggles.
For breakfast I had an orange, a banana, waffles, eggs, bacon, fruit loops, 2 slices of bread w/PB&J, OJ, milk, and not [too tasty] cake. We stepped off after breakfast for our four-mile ruck march. We didn't have to wear out IBAs, so I kept up just fine.
On arrival at "Cash Town," a large group blank exercise, my group pulled security. Less than exhilarating, but I didn't care -- I just wanted to get it done and over with.
For dinner I had tuna salad, rice & gravy, salad, 2 slices of bread, cake, powerade, and milk. Then I laid prone did security all night. I got very little sleep because for some reason we were never relieved. >-(
