Day 53 - Rescue mission

For breakfast, I had waffles, raisin bran, grits, an orange, two pieces of bread (w/PB&J), biscuit & gravy, OJ, and milk. We did "raid drill" exercises in the morning -- running around in the tall grass and pretending to kick down doors.

In the process, I lost me MRE#9 and instead got #3 Beef Ravioli. I felt bad about losing my MRE (it could have been something important), but it worked out for the best -- there was mango-peach applesauce, lemon-lime drink, brownie with chocolate chips (yum), beef jerky, and vegetable crackers with jalapeno cheese.

1400 to 1500 was down time. 1500 to 1600 was "security," which just meant laying around in hasties. I built a poncho cover with one guy and watched clouds go by. There were rumors circulating *all day* about the hurricane that hit the coast affect us. By 1830 the clouds started looking nasty and winds were high -- it looks promising.

For dinner I made a sandwich with the turkey, hot sauce, and bread. There was also mixed vegetables, orange, bean salad, mashed potatoes & gravy. At night we did a "rescue mission" that ended in failure -- we spent too much time looking and maneuvering and too little time on execution. Oh well.

Again, I got little sleep because we had to do 50 percent security -- one hour on, one hour off.
