On Saturday the 20th, some friends stopped by and brought an Edible Arrangement. That was nice -- and quite yummy. Because SY is now in a regular ward, I brought the kids and we shared it.
The only problem came up later in the day as she blacked out -- apparently her heart neglected to beat a couple times, up to three seconds. That's not good -- it means she'll more than likely need another pacemaker installed. :-(
Sunday the 21st was a sad day. I brought the kids by the hospital at about 10:45, but we only got a few minutes together before the nurses moved SY back to intensive care. What really broke my heart is when P asked me "Where's 엄마 (Mommy) going?" It took me a few moments before I could answer....
On Monday the 22nd we got official word from the doctors what the plan would be. They hooked SY up to an EKG and gave her dopamine to facilitate her heart beats. And rather than take up space in the hospital when all she needed was regular monitoring and occasional IVs, they plan to move her to the continuing care building nearby.
Tuesday the 23rd was nice because I was able to leave P with friends and just take the younger one C to the hospital. We got special permission to bring her in -- normally the ICU is closed off to children.
Later that day SY was taken by non-emergency ambulance to the "continuing care" facility.
Today I brought the kids to the new place -- she'll stay there until early December, when the infectious diseases people feel the treatment has run its course well enough to merit installation of the new pacemaker.
