CLC3 Day 34: Phase 2 start

I started two new things today. At 5:30 I joined the group that's training for the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge. There are about a half-dozen events to pass in order to earn the award, but today's training was just for the 200m swim. As a thirty-something I need to finish that event in seven minutes or less.

In the morning we attended an interview with a retired lieutenant general who helped plan the logistical side of the 2003 Iraq invasion. The most interesting part was his perspective on joint operational planning, which is a big weakness for all military branches.

In the afternoon we got into our new groups -- the ones we'll be in until the end of the course -- and rehashed the rules. We also had a lecture on MTOEs and levels of sustainment, but this was old news for us -- not very interesting at this point.

Class finished at 4:00.
