Today the GAFPB group practiced the high jump and the shot put. For me, it get "getting in touch with reality day."
Not only did I realize that I don't know what I am doing in those two events, but I also learned I can't sprint that fast, either. It took me about 20 seconds to run 100m -- I have to do that in 14 seconds.
I have a lot of work to do.
In the morning, we started BCS3 at 8:00. It was good stuff to know, but it left me wondering -- what's the application? What kind of questions does it help me answer? It's symptomatic of a larger conflict -- there's what I want to learn for my next job, and then there's what the commandants of our basic branches want us to know.
For example, the first thing we studied in this new phase was the eight Principles of Sustainment. Not bad things to know, but will it help me in my next job? It's not like the battalion commander is going to quiz me on this when I arrive, or bring it up in a staff meeting.
In the afternoon, we reviewed the principles of sustainment some more to be ready for tomorrow's "assessment" (test). It was hard to stay focused.
It's rough, too, because I get so bored, but the only thing I can think of to do is eat snacks from the shop down the hall, and then I just sit there doing nothing.
