Value of a friend

Check out this passage--

33 "Ahithophel was the king's counselor.
Hushai the Arkite was the king's friend." -1 Chronicles 27:33

It doesn't seem like it would be all that significant, but you read about what Hushai did in 2 Samuel 17 because of David's request (in 2 Samuel 15:32), it becomes remarkable what one close friendship can do. In essence, he saved the kingdom by frustrating the "offical" counselor's record of perfect advice.

I've been looking back at my employment history recently, remembering that it's only because of friends' advice that I've been able to keep the jobs I've had. It's a shame that it's been that way because of my own mistakes, but I'm grateful for my friends' help just the same.
