I've got to learn to control what I say. Several times this week I answered SY a little too quickly, and ended up being rude. If I'd taken just a moment to think about what I was saying, I'd have calmed down enough to realize it, but my tongue was a bit too quick for my brain.
Situation 1: On Thursday night, we went hiking with some classmates to watch the moon rise, and it was really windy. She expressed concern that the tripod I brought wouldn't be stable in the wind. A while later, when I was setting it up, she asked, "Are you sure it's going to be all right?" to which I shot back, "No, I'm not sure it will be all right!" Strike 1.
Situation 2: On Friday morning, we were pulling up to a stop light, and I was slowly creeping toward the white line. She asked me, "Are you going to stop?" In exactly the same tone as before, I answered, "Yeah, I'm stopping right now!" The count was oh-and-two.
Situation 3: Later that morning, we were looking for a parking spot in the Arizona Memorial lot. After a few wrong turns that put us in the bus parking area, she asked, "Can we really park here?" I thought she was referring the parking lot in general and whether we could find a spot or not. I answered, "Yeah, that's what I'm trying to do!" Stike three -- I was out.
Saturday was a *long* day.
