Classmate winners

Some of my classmates just won the UH Business Plan Competition. The three of them teamed up with three university staff members, one of whom developed a technology to filter arsenic from water supplies, and submitted a viable business plan. For that the six of them won $25,000. I’m a bit jealous, but when I consider how much work they put into it, on top of the stuff we have to do for our degree, I realize they deserve it.

The technology and the plan are impressive – filtering arsenic from municipal water supplies is an expensive matter, and EPA regulations are getting more strict. MicroNose technology does it cheaper, better, more ecologically than anything else, and has great potential in China. Two of the UH staff on the team are from China, and they’ve already gotten some calls expressing interest from a number of organizations, including the EPA.
