Day 4 - Seaweed Soup

Sunday school went pretty well, for having done the lesson in Korean. I was really nervous about how the kids would react to my less-than-perfect language skills, but they were really forgiving. I am SO glad it’s over, at least until the last Sunday in April.

After church, I took SY’s brother and his son out to lunch at Burger King, and then they drove me to the hospital. A lot of people came to visit SY, and they brought a lot of fruit. That’s nice, because now we have a whole bunch of stuff to snack on (besides 20% off ice cream. More on that later).

With SY having pretty much recovered from the surgery stuff, my new job description as bohoja is “massage meister.”

In case you’re curious about what the meals in the OB/GYN ward look like, check this out – four meals a day, each of them with mi-yeok-guk, (미역국)

Because they’re huge, SY and I split them (though I’m glad I’m not the one who has to eat the mi-yeok-guk). According to Korean custom, she has to eat the stuff every day, though even she thinks having it at every meal (at 9, 12, 6, and 9:00 again) is a bit excessive.

SY’s mother, on the other hand, remembers having had about six servings a day of the stuff (though probably with smaller bowls). I just can’t imagine that...
