TC-AIMS class

I pretty much spent this entire last week in the classroom studying TC-AIMS (after morning PT, of course). I forget what the acronym stands for, but the short explanation is that it helps plan moves.

In the Army, there are two lists -- the stuff the commander is responsible for (the OEL), and the stuff the unit deploys with (the UDL). The latter is drawn from the former, but there's usually additional stuff on there, too.

TC-AIMS helps the Unit Movement Officer (UMO) plan for getting it from the garrison to the port of embarkation, then across the ocean, then again from the port of debarkation to where it's supposed to be. It also helps keep track of stuff while it's en route so you don't have to open umpteen zillion containers just to find your night vision goggles.

Interesting class, but it took me away from my platoon for a week, and I'd rather have had that week to adjust better.
