Fall & 48 hours of rain

I think fall has just hit our part of Texas. A few days ago I was at PT saying to myself, "Oh my gosh, it's freezing. What is it? 80 degrees?"

In addition to slightly cooler weather, fall in Texas means rain. Over the past two days, we've gotten all the rain we'd hoped we'd get through all of August.

In contrast to the desperate drought that ruined the summer's corn crop, some parts farther south have been flooded. Salado, for example, got 14 inches of rain since Wednesday.

Our area was affected, too, though not quite so badly. I don't know why, but there's a drainage ditch that empties out onto our street about a block away. The stretch of road in front of our house turned into a river that kept us from leaving the house.
