Parking in the Army

If you go to a grocery store or shopping mall, you can be sure to find a parking space. It may not be as close to the entrance as you want, but there's always one out there.

Not always the case in the Army. We have formations all the time, which require us to all get in our cars and congregate at a certain time in a specific place. Good for organization; bad for getting parking.

The Army's organizational culture doesn't necessarily help the matter. There's a certain ... shall we say ... tolerance of crazy parking, since it's only because commanders want everyone together that people are forced into the situation. The number of military police is limited, and they've got bigger issues to deal with than issuing parking tickets in temporarily overcrowded lots.

Plus, soldiers themselves don't make it any easier. Here:
Car in the motorcycle space.
Motorcycle in the car space.

So he parks on the hillside. Typical.
