Having cake and eating it too
I paid off my student loans last year, so when I saw the envelope from my student loan company, I though "Uh oh. This can't be good."And yet it was. As part of a settlement between them and the U.S. government for [alleged] violations of the Service members Civil Relief Act (SCRA), I got a check for about $1600. Nice. It's doubly nice because taking advantage of the SCRA was one of the first things I did when I joined the Army. I got my student loan interest capped at 6%, and had my federal student loans deferred while I waited for the Student Loan Repayment Program to pay them off.So it's almost unfair -- I not only got the benefits of the SCRA, but also a settlement payment too.Delicious.
