"Continuation of military service" brief
Today I woke up early and went to the "Continuation of Military Service" briefing at 7:30. The purpose of this mandatory briefing is to inform soldiers about the benefits of the Reserves.
In theory, it's a good idea -- and there was good information there -- but for me it was a waste of time. I am being medically retired, so there is no option for me to do that.
To be fair, this was neither a surprise nor unavoidable. As I came in, the instructor told me his session was oriented toward enlisted personnel, and that I could skip it if I wanted.
Instead of sitting through his spiel, I could wait until 9:00, then set up an appointment with the office across the street, and attend the scheduled appointment. Call that Option A.
Option B was to sit through the half-hour that I had planned -- in advance -- to waste, sign the attendance roster, and move on with my life.
I went with Option B.
