Intermediate Level Education preferences

I'm not getting promoted to major. I can say that with better-than-99 percent certainty, for two reasons.

First, I'm in the process of being medically retired due to multiple sclerosis. In accordance with AR 40-501, I legally cannot stay in the Army. Second, even if I were retained, there's no way the promotion board would select a guy with my rating profile. According to my evaluations, I am a thoroughly mediocre guy.

Nevertheless, I still submitted my ILE preferences today. Usually, captains pick the resident school in Fort Leavenworth as their top choice. Not me, though. I put:
  1. Japanese Ground Self-Defense Staff Course (Japanese 2/2 min)
  2. French Joint Staff Course (French 2/2 min)
  3. Singapore Command and Staff College (English)
  4. Australian Command and Staff Course (English)
  5. Army CGSC at Ft Leavenworth
It would have been nice to compete for one of these foreign schools, but I'll have to find some other challenge instead.

As Hellen Keller put it, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."
