Have you ever found a $20 bill in the pocket of some old clothes? I had a moment like that today.
Last year, as I was getting out of the Army, I transitioned from the active duty life insurance policy (no premium) to the veteran policy, which was over $700 a year.
This year, as I moved into the next higher age group, I was expecting an increase to over $1000 a year. However, when I got the statement, it was for only 200-something dollars. So, I checked my payment history.
It turns out I had made a double payment last year (both a direct bank draft and a credit card payment), which I had forgotten about. Instead of shelling out $1000, I only had to pay the difference.
It was like finding over $700 in my pocket.
