Increasing levels of cheapness

For those who don't like soft drinks, the vending machines at work have a lot of alternatives. My favorite is barley tea (麦茶, mugicha), something that I remember liking when I was in Korea (where it's called 보리차, boricha).

Given that a 20oz soda from the shoppette is about $2, these drinks are not just healthier, but cheaper. Based on current exchange rates, this 130 yen drink is only $1.20. And that seemed like a eally good deal, until the day I saw a vending machine sell them for 110 yen.

Then I saw them at the grocery store for 85 yen, and I resolved never to buy from a vending machine ever again.
Almost immediately, I saw they have two-liters for 158 yen, and resolved never to buy anything smaller than that.

Finally, I saw that the grocery store has these packages of 52 large tea bags. You fill a pot with two liters of water, bring it to a boil, and then throw in one of these. Leave it to cool, and then put it into a pitcher. So instead of 138 yen for a two-liter, using these you can get it down to -- essentially -- three cents.

I am super cheap.
