First euro purchase -- 20 years after I got them

My first encounter with euros was in December 2001, on my third trip to France. The euro would be introduced a month later, and I bought a "sampler pack" worth 100 francs. At the time, that equated to €15.24. (My pochette is in the household goods shipment, but this is what it looks like.)

My second encounter was today, when I used some of the euros I'd recently withdrawn to get some fried chicken. Serendipitously, the euro's value is about on par with the dollar, which is something that hasn't happened since 2002. Hopefully, this portends well for our stay in Germany.
