Landjäger

In the U.S., we have various brands of beef jerky, and you typically find them at gas stations. In Germany, they have sausages, and they're in the deli section of the grocery store.
This is the closest thing I've found so far -- Schwarzwald Landjäger (Black Forest country hunter). As a semi-dried sausage that comes in single-servings and doesn't require refrigeration, it works well for hunters, hikers, and soldiers alike. It's also just plain good for a snack.

Plus, while Jack Links beef jerky seems to go for about $2 per ounce, I got this half-pound for about $5. Not too shabby.
