
This is the Eglise de Saint Martin; it probably served as the chapel for the garrison.


Next to the entrance is a museum with a lot of exhibits about weapons and warfare of the period. I was surprised at how easy to translate a lot of it was.




The trenchworks surrounding the citadel were impressive.


The kids enjoyed the view and goofed around along the walls.



One of the things that surprised me is that there are people who live there, though I guess that makes sense. While at one time Montmédy was an active garrison, that's no longer the case, and rather than just lets buildings become derelict, the government either sold or leased the former barracks and officers' quarters to civilians.
