My commute was strangely quiet today, like I'd missed out on the Rapture or something.
Kind of. Germany gets a lot of it holdays from the liturgical feast days, and today is Fronleichnam (Corpus Christi) in the state of Hesse. It takes place 60 days after Easter.
What exactly does one celebrate? Apparently, Germans have that question, too. In Google searching to find out more about the holiday, I saw "Was genau feiert man an Fronleichnam?" among the results.
As an American, I still have to work, so for me it's the complete lack of traffic. This picture is of the bus stop downtown; normally, it's one of the busiest in the city.
