A Prison in Seoul?

I went to one of the palaces in Seoul a few months back, and saw this huge prison-looking building right smack dab in the middle of the government district. As you can see in the pictures, surrounding the grounds are dozens of police buses with barred windows. Why in the world would they put a prison in the middle of the city?

Turns out it's not a prison at all -- it's the U.S. embassy. These hoards of police are there to prevent protesters from taking a bite out of America.

Pretty interesting situation for a country that's one of our closest allies, huh?
