Powell resigns -- thumbs down

Colin Powell resigned his position as Secretary of State. Link. Thumbs down.

Powell's done a lot for the State Department; of all the folks selected by the White House for the Cabinet, he's the one I respect the most. He's helped moderate the tendencies of other, more radical, members of the Cabinet, and went to bat for the Bush administration in situations that could be construed as "selling out." (My number one example is the speech he gave to the U.N. about the case for war.) Formerly a general in the Army, he's a real thinker whom I greatly respect. It would have been an honor to have worked in his Department.

If he runs for president in 2008, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.
