Day 1 - Moving in

There are very few days that I would NEVER want to EVER repeat, but today was one. We moved from Reception to our barracks.

One of the things we had to do was carry our baggage and run everywhere we went, and for me that meant hauling my suitcase containing all the stuff I brought from Korea. Recommendation for future generations: when going to basic training, bring as little as you can. You won’t be wearing civilians clothes and there won’t be opportunities for hobbies, so don’t even bother bringing it.

We have two drill sergeants – I’ll refer to them as DS A and DS B. According to one guy that got held over from the last cycle (for not passing his PT test), DS A is close to retirement and is pretty cool. DS B, on the other hand, is the youngest drill sergeant in the company, and has a lot to prove, so he’s a lot tougher.

There’s another important detail with an embarrassing element, but I’ll leave you in suspense. Some things are not meant for an autobiographical blog….
