Lesser known Lincoln quote

To go along with my review of Team of Rivals, I thought I'd mention a memorable quote from Abraham Lincoln. In reference to the nomination of his second Attorney General (after former rival Edward Bates), Lincoln said of James Speed,
"[He is] a man I know well, though not so well as I know his brother Joshua. That, however, is not strange, for I slept with Joshua for four years, and I suppose I ought to know him well." (p. 676)
His relationship was not sexual; in those days it was quite common for roommates to share beds (hence the term "bedfellows"). Still, it's pretty funny when viewed from a modern context.
