Truck Day

On Tuesday, my company did a kind of "show and tell" with our trucks at a middle school in the area. It was the first time I'd initiated, planned, organized, and coordinated an event, so the fact that it went well was especially meaningful to me.

I take particular pride in the way things worked because I was able to integrate the presentations into their math and history classes. I developed a ten-question quiz paper that had them figure out things like area, proportions, and time/distance problems.

For the history classes, the soldiers talked about the differences between the old Gulf War style Humvees and the newer up-armored ones, so I included questions about the pros and cons of each design.

I was happy enough that things worked well, but then it made the front page of the local newspaper the next day. That made the boss look good, which is particularly good because my annual review is due this month.
