VTIP to FAO a No-Go

Back in August, I'd applied for transfer to be a Foreign Area Officer through the Army's Volunteer Transfer Incentive Program.

With acceptance I would have been sent to a graduate school in the U.S. (again), been taught a foreign language (hopefully one I already kind of knew), and shipped off to work in a foreign country (hopefully one I've already been to but not Afghanistan).

Yet when the results were published today, I was not selected. Though I'd met all the application requirements, the selection board wanted to see an evaluation of my company command time.

So it looks like I'll have to wait until next year -- after my May 2015 evaluation comes in -- before I can apply again.
