What the command & staff meeting is for

Today I had a revelation of sorts: the biweekly command & staff meeting is not about me getting briefed by the staff; it's about the staff and me briefing our boss.

This was pretty key today because I was not prepared to talk about the status of my unit's end of tour awards, and it clearly showed in front of everyone.

Suffice to say that won't happen again.

From now on, I'll look at the Friday afternoon update and have some thoughts ready by Monday when I meet with the S-1 section. At that point, we'll hash out where we're at, and be on the same page for the Tuesday meeting.
