These three weeks
Last week was a real crusher. Within the span of four days, I had to develop our schedule for the next quarter, write up the bimonthly report on unit morale initiatives, present the unit's monthly readiness status, get the company ready for a convoy live fire exercise, plus go to all the other, regularly scheduled meetings.
But since Friday the 7th, things have been pretty smooth. That day, I was invited to hike up Apsan Mountain with the Korean staff officer, so I got out of the office all day. That led off the four day holiday weekend for Veteran's Day.
When we came back, I got to spend Wednesday out of the office for suicide prevention training (specifically the Army's Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, or ASIST). Though on Thursday I had to brief the brigade commander on the schedule I'd developed the previous week, it was not really a big deal by that point.
This past Friday, too, was a lot of fun. A bunch of us spent the day meeting our Korean counterparts down in Busan. There was a bit of work to do when we came back, but nothing too bad.
With this coming week's field exercise I'm not sure if it will be really hectic or really smooth -- it could go either way. I have another brief to give the brigade commander (this time, for the bimonthly report), but that's really about it.
If the rest of my command time goes like this, things would be great.
