My first trip to France: Getting to Sallanches

Getting to Sallanches took a full day. I don't remember how we got to O’Hare airport, but it was an eight-hour flight to Paris’s Orly airport. Then an hour to fly to Geneva. Finally, another hour-long bus ride to Sallanches.

The scenery along the road between Geneva and Sallanches (A40) was amazing. Melting snow fed waterfalls in the mountains, both of which were unimaginable for someone like me, who was most familiar with the Midwestern plains. Unfortunately, the one picture I took was terrible. I have only recently learned, this one is called la Cascade d’Arpenaz. Here's a proper, professional one from world-of-waterfalls.com. Chrystèle also sent me some. As you can from her pictures, Haute Savoie is breathtakingly beautiful.
