Lydia Spivak and the Branenburger Tor

In May 1945, after the Soviet Union took Berlin and ended the war in Europe, a Soviet Ukrainian soldier named Lydia Spivak directed traffic outside the Brandenberg Gate and gave a short interview.

This is what the Brandenburger Tor looks like today. Watching this video, and having recently stood in front of the Brandenberg Tor myself, I am reminded how small I am compared to the momentous forces of history, and what amazing things I have seen within my own lifetime.
