This past week has been pretty busy. The biggest thing was the convoy live fire exercise on Monday and Tuesday. I was notified on Thursday evening that in order to go, I would have qualify with my M-16 on Friday, which threw a wrench in my plans for that day. I was nervous because I've never been a first time "Go" in qualification, but things worked out well enough and I passed. That was a relief.
I was hoping to turn in the paperwork for my first "Financial Loss Investigation of Personal Liability" (FLIPL), but that got pushed back to Wednesday. In the meantime, my 16-person team went camping.
On Monday, we went over some drills and exercises; on Tuesday we ran the lane. Live fire exercises are always an edgy thing because of, well, live ammunition, but things went smoothly and we got home at a decent hour.
The battalion commander accepted my recommendation on the FLIPL, which I was nervous about. The full story is a bit long, and it's still pending a response from the soldier, but suffice to say it was a good learning experience for me.
