In any case, here are the pictures from our walking tour of the "centre-ville." In the first picture, the building on the left is the Église de Sallaches (church); on the right is the Centre de la Nature Montagnards ("Nature Center Mountaineer"). The weekly, Saturday morning market takes place in the area around these buildings. Next to it is what the buildings look like today.
This is my picture of the old castle -- the Château des Rubins -- which was (and still is) a museum dedicated to the Alps.
Finally, this is a map of where these places are, relative to each other, in Sallanches.
As a 16 year-old, I never gave a thought to where these places actually were. For decades, I thought such things were un-knowable. But now, thanks to 21st century tools, I can not only reverse engineer our tour, but walk down the streets of Sallanches again virtually.
